Poster Research

A film poster is a poster used to advertise a film. There may be several versions for one film, with variations in regards to size, content and country of production of the poster. It usually contains an image with text, though this has evolved over time from image-free bill posters through to the highly visual digital productions of today. The text usually contains the film title in large lettering and often the names of the main actors. It may also include a tag line, the name of the director, names of characters, the release date, etc.Film posters are displayed inside and on the outside of movie theatres, and elsewhere on the street or in shops. The same images would appear in a film exhibitor's press book and may also be used on websites, DVD-packaging, flyers, advertisements in newspapers and magazines, etc.Different sizes for film posters for United KingdomQuad, size 30 inches by 40 inches (762x1020mm), landscape formatDouble crown, size 20 inches by 30 inches (508x762mm), portrait formatOne-sheet, size 27 inches by 40 inches (686x1020mm), portrait formatThree sheet, size 40 inches by 81 inches (1020x2060mm), portrait formatAs this is not going to be publish, I do not have to think about the size of the poster.Research on different PostersI am going to research into different types of posters for different films to
gather inspiration for our film poster.

With this poster I would I would recommend the genre of this film would be romantic from the cover. The red writing symbolic the sign of death, alongside with the title ‘Remember Me’ with the words underneath ‘Live in the moments’. The image of this photo is in black and white to give it a warmer tone, or perhaps a touch of mystery as nothing is given away by the poster.
This Poster for the short film ‘OUT THERE’ is a poster which I would like our short film to be similar to. I would imagine this film would be a horror judging by the image. From looking at this poster, I imagine by the titles that something or someone is ‘Out there’. I personally liked how the man in the image has been highlighted, and it looks like he is the woods by the leaves around his face and his body and how green it is.Out There is a short film directed by Ed McGown of White Light Films and produced by Roopesh Parekh Market FilmsSince it’s completion, Out There has been shown at a number of film festivals around the world and was eventually picked up for distribution by Shorts International, making this my first piece of internationally distributed work as a freelancer.
