We both agreed on the idea of making the poster look dark and mysterious - black and white gives off this look instantly without words so we thought this dark colour scheme was key to achieve the overall look.
We wanted to leave on-lookers of the poster wondering what the film was about and instantly giving off the look of uneasiness and fear.
We also didn't want to over crowd the poster with lots of text so we decided on just having the title of our film 'LOST' in big capital letters, for we felt the title was quite self explanatory that someone or something was ‘Lost’, but we wanted viewers left with the thought of what was lost.
We used three images to create our poster;
One of the woods that the majority of the short film takes place:
- To set the location.
A photograph of Sarah:
- To show the protagonist of the short film.
- It a high angle shot from behind.
- Where Sarah isn’t looking at the camera therefore it is unclear of her emotion, we choose this photograph because we liked the eeriness it created.
- With viewers of the poster wondering who this girl was.
And then a photo of an unturned hand-held camera:
- We used this because this is what the film was created with.
- A very important prop for the whole short film for this is the object that was creating the realism.
All in all I think the poster was successful and created a great sense of unease and will leave viewers wondering and wanting to know more about this short film.
